Fragments of the Unseen, 2024 20x30in, series of three Altered photographic prints, hand sanitizer on photographic paper

‘Fragments of the Unseen’ aims to explore the theme of loss of control through both concept, process and material manipulation. The original photographs, accidentally acquired from random people, served as the foundation for this work. Using hand sanitizer, the ink was removed, erasing any trace of identity and recognizable details from the images. This method introduces randomness and disorder into something once defined and controlled — a metaphor for how easily identity, memories, or selfhood can be altered or erased. As the images blur, warp, and disappear, they evoke a sense of helplessness, of watching something familiar dissolve into abstraction, much like how people might feel when their sense of identity or control slips away in real life.
